There are villages that bloom in spring. Bormes-les-Mimosas blooms all year. This sun-kissed jewel of the Var coast is draped in flowers from January's golden mimosa to summer's bougainvillea, its pink-tiled rooftops cascading down the hillside toward the sea. It's regularly named one of France's most beautiful villages, and for once the label fits.
What to do
Climb to the castle-ruins viewpoint, wander the flower-lined Rue Carnot, browse the weekly market, and walk down toward the beaches below. In February the whole village turns out for the mimosa festival.
