Picnic Spot
Not every village has a waterfall. Sillans-la-Cascade has a 42-metre one, hiding at the end of a forest path that feels like a shortcut into another world. The village itself is a quiet Provençal charmer of stone houses and shady squares, but it's the cascade, and the cool green pool beneath it, that people remember.
What to do
Walk the waterfall trail, around twenty minutes each way, picnic by the cascade, and stroll the medieval lanes. In high summer the flow thins, so come in spring for the full spectacle.
Practical information
Getting there: about 1h15 north of Toulon via the A8 and D560. Free parking near the trailhead.
Best time: spring for the strongest flow and wildflowers; summer mornings before the heat; autumn for golden light and quiet trails.
Don't miss: the waterfall trail, a picnic by the cascade, and the old village.
Mauricette's Tip
Pair Sillans with Cotignac or Villecroze, both close by, for an inland day that mixes water, stone and a long lunch.
