Practical information
Getting there: about 15 minutes from the villa to the nearest trailheads; the chestnut village of Collobrières is about 35 minutes.
Best seasons: autumn for colours and chestnuts, spring for wildflowers and mild temperatures, winter for crisp, quiet trails. Summer is often too hot, and access may be restricted for fire risk.
Fire risk: in summer, check massif access before setting out, as trails can close at short notice.
